Camille Licate

On Sunday, June 12th, Chicago Screenwriters Network welcomes Camille Licate, screenwriter of the recently-released animated children’s film Izzie’s Way Home and author of the non-fiction book Small Shoes: Outgrowing Old Relationships & Finding the Right Fit. Camille’s presentation will focus on the many different ways screenwriter’s can get themselves out there, using her story as an example. She will also address how to stay organized, motivated, and inspired.

Camille graduated from Mercyhurst College, in Erie, PA, earning a degree in Dance and minor in Anthropology. She moved to NYC, where she studied and performed with The Martha Graham Dance Company and worked as a pottery analyst for The American Museum of Natural History. She then made the coastal leap to Los Angeles, CA, where she worked as a professional actress, writer and speaker. She has booked 20 + television commercials, appeared in comedic sketches on NBC’s Jay Leno Show, and was the lead in the film Greystone which premiered at the New York Film Festival and London Film Festival.

Camille authored and self-published the book, Small Shoes, which led to the launch of her motivational speaking career. She made her screenwriting debut with her animated children’s film, Izzie’s Way Home, produced by The Asylum and released on DVD on May 17, 2016. She created and stars in the web series Hotline about a diverse bunch of self-proclaimed psychics who work for a nutty bi-polar boss on a local psychic hotline and out of a “psychic van”.

Camille loves to spend time with her rescue pups, Oliver and Teddy Toast and volunteering for The Catskill Animal Sanctuary, in Saugerties, NY and The Wild Bird Fund in NYC. An animal advocate, she worked for Orangutan Foundation International and traveled to Camp Leakey, in Borneo, Indonesia, to film and study the endangered orangutan. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Camille will appear at the June CSN meeting via Skype (or some such form of videoconferencing).

Admission is only $10.00 (which includes all PayPal/Eventbrite fees) in advance via Eventbrite, available until two (2) hours before the meeting begins. Otherwise, admission is $20.00 at the door.
